Technology Transfer Program
BC Honey Producers Association

The Technology Transfer Program (TTP) is a Not For Profit initiative of the BC Honey Producers Association that supports beekeepers through research, education, and extension services. They partnered with me to fully rebuild their outdated WordPress website with a focus on clarity, organization, and ease of use for both visitors and administrators.

Designed to streamline access to valuable resources, the new site presents technical information in a clean, digestible way, making it easier for beekeepers and community members to find what they need. I reorganized the content from the ground up, creating an intuitive structure and layout that staff can confidently update and maintain.

• Content Restructure
• UX Design

• Online Store Setup

• Admin Training & Support

The Challenge

The Technology Transfer Program needed a website that reflected the quality of their research and services while remaining accessible to a wide range of users. The existing WordPress site had become difficult to navigate and even harder to maintain, with fragmented content and no clear structure. Visitors often struggled to locate key documents or updates, and staff found it challenging to keep things current. In addition to restructuring the site, the goal was to create a more streamlined way to accept donations and to set up a simple not for profit online store to support fundraising efforts. The rebuild focused on developing an intuitive layout that would make complex information easy to find and easy to manage, without relying on outside technical support.

"Dev helped us build an entirely new website for The BC Technology Transfer Program, a non-profit organization with a mandate to Promote Honey Bee Health & Productivity, and to Advance the Sustainability of the Beekeeping Industry in British Columbia through Research, Education and Knowledge Transfer. Dev first took the time to review our entire existing site, as well as the site of our parent association to educate herself on our mission, ethos & practices and get a broad scope of what we needed. Our outdated website was unorganized and hard to navigate for users. Dev was able to discern and organize all the information from that site into a way that was easily accessible, attractive and digestible for our users. Which is important considering a lot of that information was scientific based reports and resources meant to be comprehensive for the average beekeeper. The new multifaceted website also included a merchandise store, donations page, video tutorial integration and multiple form pages for collaborations, events and resources. One of the stand-out benefits of Dev’s work was the site was user-friendly and helped reach beekeepers from a broad range of demographics, ages and with varying levels of technological capabilities. The higher level of engagement with this site versus our old one is exponential. During the process Dev was great with consistent communication and supporting us during our portion of the work required to make the project a success. I would recommend Dev for any project and in fact ended up hiring her afterwards for professional photographs and a site rebuild for my personal small business. ."

The Strategy

Accessibility, clarity, and long term usability were central to this project. I reorganized the site’s content into a clean, simplified structure with intuitive navigation and clearly defined sections. Dozens of disjointed pages were consolidated into a streamlined experience that makes key resources easy to find and simple to update.

To support the organization’s broader goals, I set up an online store to help raise funds through product sales and integrated a donation platform to make it easier for supporters to contribute. The visual design is minimal yet approachable, with a custom layout built from the ground up in Squarespace. Strategic use of hierarchy, formatting, and white space helps guide readers through technical content without overwhelm. The final build empowers the TTP team to maintain and grow their site independently, with no need for ongoing developer reliance.
